A golden ball, Ravel's “Bolero” and a great routine from Margarita Mamun. A first highlight, the audience is delighted!

It's getting louder in the arena: Salome Pazhava, Georgia, earns enthusiastic applause for her hoop routine. She has her very own, unique style, combing temperament and difficulty.

K. Halkina is the first 2015 medalist to take the floor. She delivers a spectacular routine to “Beethoven Scherzo” by David Garrett and performs as powerful as the music is.

19 different countries are represented at this year's Masters and that means that Nourhal Khattab from Egypt is among the competing gymnasts. Her ball routine isn't without mistake but the audience is behind her.

Round 1 / Group B

French Ksenyia Moustafaeva is always a top ten contender. She chose “Amaluna” from Cirque du Soleil to accompany her clubs routine. It's fun to watch. 17,200 points.

Marina Durunda from Azerbaijan starts her all around competition with hoop. Her technique is impressive and her presence on the floor immense. Not the least bit surprising since she placed 6th at the 2014 World Championships. 17,800 points.

Bulgarian Sara Staykova fills the arena with Balkan sounds. Her clubs routine is technically clean and she has good expression. 17,100 points

Karin Smirnov had been named to the team competing at the Berlin Masters only after German Nationals but she delivers a solid ribbon routine. It's temperamental and fluid and earns the 16-year-old 15,100 points.

Aleksandra Soldatova, team World Champion and European Champion from Russia, is first up. Her hoop routine is set to classical music, still, it's fresh and entertaining and her potential is obvious. 18,700 points.

Round 2 / Group B

Karla Diaz from Mexico has a lot of bad luck with hoop. Her hoop rolls off of the floor and she has to use the back-up but loses that one, too. The audience is cheering her on. Otherwise, the 19-year-old is a pleasure to watch. She got 17,200 points for her ribbon routine, however, this time around she gets only 11,950 points.

Ksenyia Moustafaeva gets 17,550 points for her ribbon routine.

Marina Durunda is up next with ball. Her routine is packed with difficulty; she catches blindly, throws the ball while moving. Everything works out. 17,400 points.

Veronika Poliakova is not as well known as her two compatriots, still, she has already done well in several Grand Prix events. And she's doing well in Berlin, too. The youngest competitor – she turned 16 in March – shows a nice routine. Her ribbon routine earned her 17,300 points, this one 17,450 points.

Karin Smirnov delivers another solid routine with hoop. She's clean and in control. Unfortunately, the music is a little overpowering and takes away from what she's doing. 15,000 points.

Elizaveta Nazarenkova from Uzebkistan is up next with ball. She is very expressive and connects with the audience instantly. Her routine to Christina Aguilera's “Walk Away” is well received. 17,500 points.

Aliya Assymova from Kazakhstan has competed in the Berlin Masters last year. Her ribbon routine is set to a folk song as well and is well-executed. 16,800 points.

Aleksandra Soldatova is the first to use a Swan Lake theme for her ball routine. Unfortunately, it's not a good-luck charm. Her golden ball rolls off of the floor and she has to use her back-up. 17,200 points.

Kseniya Moustafaeva loses her hoop during the routine. It rolls off of the floor. 15,500 points.

Angelica Kvieczynski competed at last year's Masters and, after her travel complications and lost luggage, she is more than happy to be able to compete this year. All of that seems to be forgotten on the floor, however. She earns a score of 16,300 for her ribbon routine.

Marina Durunda chose elegance and lyrical for her club routine, rather unusual. Her choice of music is “Dance of Leaves” and she delivers. 17,750 points.

Serena Lu, a young, talented American gymnast, shows some solid routines. Her choreography is dynamic, the audience likes her and she gets good scores: 17,300 with ball, 16,700 with clubs and her ribbon routine earned her 17,250 points. Internationally, she's right up there with all the others.

Aleksandra Soldatova takes the floor with clubs. The routine is certainly one of the highlights; the 16-year-old is very versatile and capable, still, she seems to have difficulties with nerves. She drops one of the clubs at the beginning of the routine but afterwards, she's perfect. 18,150 points.
